Michelle DOvidio
Sensei Michelle D’Ovidio has been a student at Excel Martial Arts since she was ten years old. She has always been a hard-working attentive student who rarely misses a class and seeks more challenges every year of her training. At the time of her joining, she was the oldest in the children’s class, so we as instructors needed to find new ways to challenge her. In 2006, we developed the Excel Black Belt club for students like Michelle, who needed additional challenges outside of the regular curriculum.
Michelle is more than just a student at the Excel. At age 16, she began volunteering as an assistant instructor in our programs. In November of 2011, Michelle began co-teaching classes and honing her teaching skills to a point where she can run a large class, work one-on-one, and direct other instructors with equal ease. Michelle was a long-time co-teacher of our Adaptive Karate program at our Norwood location.
Michelle earned her 1st Degree Black Belt in American-Te® and the title of Sensei in 2014. As a result of continuous training, Michelle earned her 2nd Degree Black Belt in 2017 and 3rd Degree in 2020.
Sensei Michelle is a paraprofessional teacher in Dover Elementary. Currently, Michelle runs the Excel Summer Camp Programs for students, friends and families of Excel. Furthermore, Michelle is a Head Instructor in both Mansfield and Canton.
